Rosi Sexton officially announced on her website her retirement from competition after a 12 year run in MMA Thursday.

Sexton ends her storied career with a 13-5 record. After three losses, Sexton felt she had more to offer outside the cage than inside it, and decided to hang up the gloves.

Sexton has been the first British female fighter to make a worldwide impact, having lost to Gina Carano after winning her first five fights in her native England. She would get notable wins over Carina Damm, Debi Purcell, Roxanne Modafferi, and Aisling Daly in her MMA run, cementing herself as one of the best flyweights to ever step into the cage.

Outside the cage, Sexton gain her PhD in theoretical computer science and soon became a licensed osteopath. She has helped start Safe MMA, a non-profit organization that helps protect fighters and regulate MMA medically in Europe. She has become a regular commentator on Cage Warriors, and will look to continue her role there.

Sexton mentored many fighters and helped expand Europe’s influence in MMA. She will continue to do so.

We wish Sexton the best in her retirement.
