For the three days we will previewing InvictaFC 8 which will emanate from Kansas City Municipal Auditorium September 6, and will stream on UFC Fight Pass.

Check out Wombat Sports as we will give you continuing coverage live on location.

Fourth fight sees two rising stars in the strawweight division as Mexico’s Alexa Grasso takes on Ashley Cummins.

The Fighters:

Alexa Grasso (4-0) – The first Mexican national to enter the InvictaFC cage, Grasso had gotten three knockouts in under a minute. She won a one night tournament last August. In a country that lives and breaths boxing, Grasso has trained MMA most of her life.

Ashley Cummins (3-2) – Undefeated as an amateur, Cummins has had a bumpy road her last two fights at Invicta. After a devastating loss to TUF 20 fighter Joanne Calderwood, she lost a close split decision to Emily Peters-Kagan.

The Storyline:

Alexa Grasso is looking to make a major impact in the MMA scene in Mexico with a win. She is taking a step up in competition, which will be the ultimate test for her to see if she can hang in the division.

Ashley Cummins has a lot of mental hurdles coming into the fight. Besides being on a two fight skid, she is a police officer in St. Louis and has had to go on social media blackout due to threats. She recently did an interview for Cage Submission radio and since the civil unrest has calmed down, she is back to full time training.

What to expect:

If Cummins can make it past the third round and take it to the ground, she could win a decision if not a submission. Grasso wants a fire fight on the feet. Odds will probably have Grasso favored, but experience could see Cummins with the upset.
