Ronda Rousey & Taylor Stratford Face Off at Tuff-n-uff Weigh-ins

It can be called the greatest collection of female amateur 145 pounders in one single tournament. Tuff-n-uff MMA continues its women’s 145 tournament tonight with two quarter final matches, and one semi-final.

Amateur Fighter of the Year Taylor Stratford wants to continue her undefeated streak of 7-0 when she faces the undefeated Olympic Bronze medalist in Judo Ronda Rousey. Both women finish their quarterfinal matches within 90 seconds. Rousey stated that this will be her last amateur match, as she turns pro in February, looking to face Strikeforce champ Cyborg Satnos by the end of the year. Win, lose or draw, Stratford will be in the finals, but these two women are the best in the amateur ranks, and it should be a war.

Tomikka Brents (left) and Tori Adams (Right)

In the first quarter final match of the evening, undefeated Tamikka Brents faces off against Olympic wrestling alternate Tori Adams. Brents (4-0-1) is the current NAAFS 145 pound champion, winning the title a few weeks ago over Jessica Zomcik via an impressive first round tko. Adams (2-0) has a tko and a submission win in her first two bouts, and looks to use her world class wrestling to defeat the striker in Brents.

Jessamyn Duke faces off with Ashlee Evans-Smith

The other quarter sees Jessamyn Duke facing Ashlee Evans-Smith. Evans-Smith just debuted in mma last month, with a TKO victory over fellow newcomer Samantha Mosqueda. Duke has been training in mma for over two year, but made her debut this past fall with an outstanding TKO victory over Alexandria Stobbe.

The winners of the quarterfinal matches will face off Feb. 11 to see who faces Taylor Stratford in the finals.
