As much of a superstar as champion Cris Cyborg Santos is in the Strikeforce cage, she has only been competing at the top level of Brazilain jiu-jitsu for the past two years. She has competed at the Abu Dhabi World Championships a few years ago, which some stated that she wasn't experienced enough to earn her shot there. Cyborg, however, has gained a lot of respect today.

In Long Beach, CA, the International Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Federation hosted their world championships (called the Mundials) with several of the world's top jiu-jitsu competitors vying for titles. Cyborg faced a tough Sarah Draht from Long Island, NY and Bay Area's Amanda Lucas to gain first place in the Purple belt heavy catagory. Two great throws helped Cyborg gain the wins.
