The Baylor Lady Bears take their 13-game win streak on the road when they face the Kansas Jayhawks tonight. After a victory over Oklahoma State over the weekend, Baylor (16-1, 3-0) remains atop of the Associated Press and USA TODAY/ESPN coaches’ poll.
Kansas goes into the matchup with a 14-3 overall record and 1-2 in the Big 12. In their last outing they lost 75-61 in overtime to Nebraska.
Baylor is led by sophomore center Brittney Griner’s league-leading 22 points per game while freshman guard Odyssey Sims follows with 13.4 points per contest. Senior guard Melissa Jones leads the team in rebounding average at 8.7 and is followed by Griner’s 8.0 rpg.
The Jayhawks are led by 6-3 sophomore forward Carolyn Davis’ 19.1 points per matchup. Monica Engelman, a 5-11 sophomore guard, and 6-2 junior forward Aishah Sutherland also have double-digit scoring averages with 12.9 and 11.6, respectively. Sutherland is the squad’s top rebounder at 9.4 per game while Davis follows with 8.5 per contest.
