Series: Oklahoma leads the series 24-11 and has won 10 of the last 13 contests, including two straight wins. Overall in Waco the Sooners hold a 9-6 edge. Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey is 7-17 overall vs. the Sooners and 4-6 in Waco.
After securing the number one spot in the Big 12 with a win over Texas A&M; on Sunday, No. 1 Baylor (19-1, 6-0 Big 12) returns home to face No. 13 Oklahoma (16-4, 6-1).
The Sooners also played A&M; recently, losing at home 80-78 on Wednesday, January 26. But they rebounded from the loss with a win over Oklahoma State in a Bedlam Battle on Saturday, January 29, beating the Cowgirls 82-77. The Sooners are led by senior guard Danielle Robinson who is averaging 19.3 points per game and 5.4 assists. Freshman guard Aaryn Ellenberg is also putting up good numbers with 17.1 points per game, followed by sophomore guard Whitney Hand at 14.9 points per game.
Baylor comes into the contest on a 16-game win streak, the longest active win streak in NCAA Division I. They are led by sophomore center Brittney Griner’s 21.9 points and 8.0 rebounds a contest while freshman guard Odyssey Sims follows with 13.9 points a game. Senior guard Melissa Jones ranks second in rebounding at 6.9 an outing and third in scoring with 9.3 a game.
