Series: Baylor leads the series, 13-9, and has won eight straight in the series. The Wildcats are 1-6 in games played in Waco. Kansas State’s last win over Baylor came on Jan. 27, 2004, an 85-65 decision in Manhattan.
While Baylor (24-2, 11-1) looks to recover from a loss on the road to Texas Tech, Kansas State (18-7, 8-4) seeks to build on its two-game winning streak. Baylor, ranked No. 3 in the nation and No. 1 in the Big 12, comes into the contest with a 17-0 record at home this season. The Saturday loss against unranked Texas Tech broke Baylor’s 21-game overall winning streak.
The Lady Bears hosts the Wildcats in Waco. Kansas State’s last two triumphs resulted from a road victory against Nebraska and a defeat of Colorado. The game against Nebraska gave the Wildcats their 800th program win.
Key Players
The Wildcats are led by sophomore guard Brittany Chambers who scores 16.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. She is followed by junior forward Jalana Childs at 13.5 points and sophomore guard Taelor Karr at 10.1. Sophomore guard Branshea Brown ranks second on the squad in rebounding at 5.7 a contest while Childs and Karr each pull down 4.8 a game.
The Lady Bears are led by sophomore post Brittney Griner, senior guard Melissa Jones and freshman guard Odyssey Sims. Griner leads Baylor in scoring at 22.3 points per game, rebounding (8.0 rpg) and blocks (4.7 bpg). Freshman guard Odyssey Sims follows with 13.4 points a game. Senior Melissa Jones checks in with 9.1 points and 7.0 rebounds a contest.
