Last Friday I attended JackRabbit’s first NYC Running Show. It was a pretty good concept, nicely executed, and I hope they continue to do it annually. There were larges booths for all the different vendors, staffed with representatives from the companies who actually know what they are talking about. Here is what the Brooks booth looked like:

There were also several topics and speakers, including ultra-marathoner Scott Jurek and former fireman Matt Long, who was almost killed when he was struck by and sucked under a 20-ton bus.

Additionally, JackRabbit took this opportunity to introduce a challenge that will be going on from now until the Hamptons Marathon on Sept 24th. It’s called the "Run for the Rabbit" http://runfortherabbit.com/ and involves six runners who are competing to raise money for six different charities while training for the marathon.

They will be coached by local running coach Jonathan Cane, who will hopefully get them all to the finish line ready to go. I have to admit, this was one of the first thoughts that went through my mind - as someone who has competed on a lot of teams in my life, getting 100% of your athletes to the line uninjured is a bigger task than getting them all fit, and I hope he succeeds.
