Hey Everyone,

Let me start by saying HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all the mother’s out there!! I had a great one with my mom and I hope everyone was able to have the same special day with their mother, mother-in-law, or mother-like women in their life.

Ok my performance at Oxy was better than my last one!! Not great but I fixed my major issues and got over my hardest two hurdles ;-) so we’ll take it!! lol

Welcome to the 2ndedition of MacKenzie Center on Mackeniesjourney.com

So I got to the track really relaxed more relaxed then usual lol!! I saw some familiar faces and walked to an area where I ended up relaxing until it was time to start warming up. It seems like I was laying there forever time was moving so slowly! I almost got worried every thing seemed so different (I was extremely relaxed, time was moving slowly, I was not obsessing over my race lol). Then I thought about a saying that I’ve heard my mom say, which became my theme for the day!! The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result!! So I took everything in stride and didnt stress, because I wanted a DIFFERENT result.

Finally 5:30 rolled around I got up, got into my zone and started my warm up. After I finished half of my warm up my coach and I went over my race plan. Then I completed my warm up and ran over some hurdles, by this point the time really started flying!! Next thing I knew my race was the next one on the track!

6:38

2 min till race time ladies!!

So I started walking towards the track; and since my theme was trying something different I was the 1st person on the track standing behind my blocks ready to go. I recalled my mom mentioning that I am always the last one out there!! Not this time I WANT A DIFFERENT RESULT!!!!

Runners to your marks! I took my deep breath and got in the blocks

SET (I raised)

Bang!!!

I was out, my start was a little rocky I hit that first hurdle a little strangely but it was ok, I stayed in there, and got thru 2-4 clean. Then I heard someone saying you are chilling too much too slow! I knew I was really relaxed so I knew that voice was for me! So I picked it up a little cool I got thru the 200 and I’m feeling good! Going into 7 I didn’t even think about it next thing I knew I was driving into 8 YES YES YOU DOING IT! Passing the runner to my outside going into 9 ok MAC you have to keep this clean and tight BOOOM! YES I’m over 9 lets get home! Went into 10, I landed a little flat and off its ok I’m done with all that pattern stuff now get to that line!! I crossed the line first just waiting for my time!

Lol heck I knew it was better than my 1stgo around it just felt easier lol. I walked away thinking ok I can take that. I know I made some mistakes. But at the same time I cleared hurdle 7 and 9 which were my BIGGEST hurdles! Everything else will come along! I felt a change and relief after that race even though it is not my fastest time and I still have work to do. I felt differently going into and coming out of that race, a feeling I want to carry with me the rest of the season!!!

Thank you for tuning into MacKenzie Center on mackenziesjourney.com
