In keeping with SB Nation’s innovative use of social media in reshaping sports journalism, our vision is a women's basketball site that goes beyond merely providing game reports; instead, we want to capture the narratives that fuel our passion for the game, while maintaining the critical stance that helps us understand the game better.

NEWARK, NJ - The Minnesota Lynx just finished a very convincing 86-68 dismantling of the New York Liberty at the Prudential Center. Naturally the topic of the upcoming playoffs was discussed. The Lynx, now 25-7 on the season, can take solace in knowing they have the homecourt advantage through the playoffs.

"I think there is an advantage," said point guard Lindsay Whalen, who recorded 9 points and 7 assists in the win over the Liberty.

Whalen admitted being at home doesn't guarantee wins. Regardless, it is significant.

"It's something you work for throughout the year," she said. "We worked hard to get it and it will be great having moregames in front of our fans."

Coach Cheryl Reeve reiterated what Whalen discussed.

"We worked for the (homecourt ) edge," she said. While conceding that teams not buildings or rapid fans win games, Reeve did note that being at home is "helpful in the way we play. When you are in your own gym you get a comfort zone and that may help in the crucial moments of a tough game."

The Lynx cannot be counted out away from home as Reeve noted, "we are a pretty good road team." On the season they are 12-4 away from the friendly confines of their Target Center. Against the Liberty, the prospects of being away did not deter their performance.

"This, " Reeve said, "after losing at home to the Liberty on Friday, was a statement game."

An impressive statement indeed.
