Two members of the University of Richmond women's basketball family passed away in a hot air balloon accident on Friday north of Richmond.

Earlier it was reported that two coaches from Richmond's basketball team died in a hot-air balloon crash on Friday.

Multiple sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because it hasn't been officially released, have told Swish Appeal that the two potential coaches who died in Friday's hot-air balloon crash were Associate Head Coach Ginny Doyle and Director of Basketball Operations Natalie Lewis.

Here's a tweet from Ginny Doyle's twitter account right before the hot-air balloon went up.

Other Richmond women's basketball coaching staff members, including head coach Michael Shaefer were in attendance and were witnesses to the crash. Doyle spent 16 years on the Spiders' coaching staff and was a former standout player for Richmond in her playing days. Lewis was also a Richmond graduate, and was on their swimming team.

The hot-air balloon flights were held during the Mid-Atlantic Balloon Festival, which is located north of Richmond.

Update: Doyle's and Lewis' death has been been officially confirmed by the Washington Post.
