Hey, did you know it is the postseason in baseball? Yeah, me neither. Because I am a Cubs fan and I’m pretty sure the baseball season was over for me right after the All-Star Break in July.

Roy Halladay

So the postseason kicked off last night in exciting fashion. Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay became only the second player in history to throw a no-hitter in the postseason. And Halladay was just one walk away from a perfect game.

“It’s surreal, it really is,” Halladay said. “I just wanted to pitch here, to pitch in the postseason. To go out and have a game like that, it’s a dream come true.”

Don Larsen is the only other pitcher to throw a postseason no-hitter. He tossed a perfect game for the New York Yankees in the 1956 World Series against Brooklyn. Larsen congratulated Halladay on the feat. ”Quite a nice effort he had,” Larsen said. “You have to give him credit for that.”

The Phillies beat the Reds 4-0 to go one game up in the series. Game 2 is on Friday night.
