After being knocked out by Diana Prazak Friday night in Stockholm, Sweden, Frida Wallberg is now fighting for her life.
Wallberg suffered a brain hemorrhage after Prazak knocked her out in round 8. She was able to stumble to her corner after the loss, with the doctor giving a quick examination. The doctor left the ring thinking everything was okay, but Wallberg’s cornerwoman, Lucia Rijker, thought otherwise and told the doctor to re-examine Wallberg and take her to the hospital.
After an MRI at Karolinska hospital, it was determined that Wallberg had a cerebral hemorrhage and went into surgery immediately. She is currently in a medically induced coma and on a respirator. Not much more is know about her condition.
It should be noted that Wallberg did have a clear MRI two week ago as a part of her pre-fight medicals.
If she does completely recover, which is a possibility, she can no longer box under Swedish boxing regulations; essentially ending her boxing career.
