With Cyborg Justino the new 145 pound champ at Invicta, there has been speculation about who will face her next. InvictaFC President Shannon Knapp stated she is working on a few things, including Cyborg possibly going up in weight.

Knapp was on “The Show with Mauro Ranallo” Wednesday and reported that she will be signing some new featherweights in the next few months to help build a contender for the 145 champ in the near future. Ediane Gomes and Julia Budd are both still considered top contenders for the title.

She also expressed the idea of developing an 155 division for Cyborg, citing how tough Justino’s weight cut was. One of the bigger complaints by Ranallo during the InvictaFC 6 telecast was the need for weight cutting. A prime example was Veronica Rothenhausler passing out during her weight cut last week.

The 155 division is starting to be organized through a group on Facebook, with a few dozen fighters already raising their hands for a shot of fighting at Invicta.

Other news Knapp told Ranallo in the interview was that InvictaFC 7 and InvictaFC 8 would tentatively be in October and January respectfully. She stated two title matches will happen on both, with the 7th card most likely seeing the atomweight and flyweight belts being defended. The strawweight match between Carla Esparza and Claudia Gadelha is speculated for January so Esparza can get a full fight camp in.

In terms of the bantamweight title, she is still waiting for “The Ultimate Fighter” to play out, as well as the many UFC matches set for the next few months. Lauren Taylor will be one half of that title match having defeated Sarah D’Alelio this past weekend.
