Beautiful Brawlers III Happens this Weekend

Wombat sports is dedicated to women in combat sports. Former news editor of “Fightergirls” MarQ Piocos has been covering Women’s MMA for over three years, having picked up coverage of wrestling, boxing, and grappling. It is his vision to bring some of the best coverage to help bring and promote the ever expanding popularity of women’s MMA, wrestling, and martial arts with some of the best writers and athletes.

beautoful brawlers 3One of the most popular amateur boxing events of the year will hit the Bay Area Saturday.

The third annual Beautiful Brawlers event will see some of the best up and coming talent in the sweet science duke it out. A total of 20 matches are set, with a day full of action in three sessions.

Olympian Queen Underwood will take on California’s Stalacia Leggett in what will be the main event of session 3.

Sessions two will feature a rematch between Casey Morton and Jamie Mitchell. Mitchell won their first meeting, with Morton hoping to even the score. Both have declared this will be their last amateur match as both are planning to turn pro.

Session 1 will be headlined by the teenagers of the sport, as Heaven Garcia faces Yessenia Martinez. Both are well on their way to making the Olympics in 2020.

Many faces of the sport will be in attendance, including WBC Silver flyweight champ Ava Knight, WBO/WIBF flyweight champ Melissa McMorrow, IFBA Lightweight champ Crystal Morales, and interim WIBA light flyweight champ Jolene Blackshear.

In terms of media, WBAN head Sue Fox and Women’s MMA Round-up’s Kirsten Ursy and Veronica LoCurto will be there to cover the action.

The bouts begin at 12:30 p.m. at the SportsHouse in Redwood City, CA. Tickets are $20 general admission or $60 ringside.
