UFC champion Ronda Rousey and Alexis Davis will throw down for the gold July 5th in Vegas. UFC president Dana White tweeted the news Friday night.

It was expected that Rousey would be defending the title against #1 contender Cat Zingano, but Zingano looks like she won’t be ready for the July showdown, so Davis got the shot.

Davis (16-5) has been on a five fight win streak since a majority decision loss to Sarah Kaufman in 2012. Her wins include finishes over current UFC signees Shayna Baszler and Amanda Nunes.  Davis last win was a decision over Jessica Eye.

Davis is a black belt in Brazilian and Japanese jiu-jitsu.

Rousey (10-0) has finished all of her opponents, with a TKO win over Sara McMann in her last bout. The Olympic medalist had armbarred the rest of her opponents, but will find a challenge in Davis’s ground skills.

The match will be a part of UFC 175 pay-per-view main card July 5 in Las Vegas.
