tate carmouche fight 01

Miesha Tate has gotten her first UFC, defeating Liz Carmouche at UFC on Fox 11 in Orlando, Florida Saturday by unanimous decision.

Tate (14-5) looked a little sluggish in the first round, with Carmouche controlling the takedown and grappling game. Tate warmed up more in the second with her striking, despite getting taken down again by Carmouche and stifled on the mat.

Tate pushed forward in round 3, getting a takedown of her own and taking side control. Tate threatened with several chokes throughout the round, with Carmouche surviving a tight rear naked choke.

In the end, the judges gave Tate the nod 29-28 all.

Carmouche suffered a wrist injury and is on medical suspension until a doctor clears her. Tate is clear and a possible rumored fight Sarah Kaufman in a rematch in June ahead of her.
