Phoenix Mercury forward Diana Taurasi has tested positive for some banned substance in Turkey, where she's been playing. Her lawyer will only say that it's "not a steroid or a recreational drug." She's been suspended from play in definitely.
What other banned categories are there besides steroids and recreational drugs??
Update at 10:47 p.m.: lab that analyzed Taurasi's results has questionable history. (I knew it!)

To answer your question "What other banned categories are there besides steroids and recreational drugs ?"
There are a lot of drugs that are banned that should not be! so before you start passing judgement on that woman (Diana Taurasi) you could always go to usada.org to understand what IS and what IS NOT, what's banned ONLY "IN-COMPETITION" and "OUT-competition" bans! for example, weed is only prohibited IN competition! Other examples include: Adderall, Concerta, Focalin, Ritalin, and Vyvanse which are drugs for ADD and ADHD.
amphetamine, methamphetamine, levmetamphetamine, pseudoephedrine, cocaine, and modafinil which are used to treat a few problems such as insomnia, Narcolepsy and others!
Buprenorphine, dextromoramide, diamorphine (heroin), fentanyl and its derivatives, hydromorphone, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, oxymorphone, pentazocine, pethidine (meperidine). many of which Doctors prescribe as pain meds from minor injuries to major surgeries! Also MANY inhalers used for asthma and Epidurals are also prohibited IN-COMPETITION!
So there are quite a few drugs that are legal, but illegal while competing unless you get permission or inform USADA or WADA that you are taking theses items, which is NOT the most convenient or a simple process!
There have been quite a few athletes who have been banned for a over the counter drugs, that were on the ban list one year, off the ban year the next and their ban was lifted! so before you start putting word out there and questioning an athletes integrity talking about "I knew it", please understand that not all good/great athletes are guilty of performance enhancements because a test comes back positive! Hell, we can't even take NYQUIL: the nighttime, sniffling, sneezing.....so you can rest medicine :o

ahhh you meant "I knew it" in reference to the LAB being questionable! gotcha! but I hope i answered the questions in regards to what type of banned categories are there besides steroids and recreational drugs! because many folks are unaware of the IN-Competition and OUT of Competition regulations! and as soon as someone mentions drugs and athletes people assume its STEROIDS or trying to cover up something...and that is NOT always the catch!
