I’ve created a Gu Monster!
by Chic Runner posted February 23, 2011 at 10:42am
So I put off my 16 miler off ALL weekend long and waited until yesterday morning to do it. Luckily, I dragged B along with me! He had done 10 miles with me before and though he is not a big fan of running, he likes doing it for a workout. He also has a ne...more

Post-Race Recovery Time
by Run Girl Run posted February 23, 2011 at 12:07am
One of the best parts about training for and completing a race is the rest time that comes afterward. The two weeks post race are some of my favorite because they are so laid back.
I don't feel like I have to do a certain number of runs per week.
I don...more

Now me: Lessons in transcending circumstances
by Byline to Finish Line posted February 21, 2011 at 2:40pm
Do your workout.
Those were the instructions from Sue, who was positioned on the treadmill to my left. It had been a while since the two of us shared a run, and what better time to benefit from her wisdom and energy then on my longest run since the Disne...more

by Chic Runner posted February 19, 2011 at 11:07am
So with the whole work Texas Trip, I didn’t get any long run last weekend. FAIL. This weekend I have a 14-16 miler scheduled, which I shall tackle on Sunday. I’m going to run with my new iFitness belt, which I am SO excited to try.
It looks like su...more

Boston Marathon: What’s the Big Deal?
by Endurance Meg posted February 18, 2011 at 9:45am
There’s definitely an allure to running the Boston Marathon if you are a runner. Personally, I don’t find it my supreme goal to race there, but I would by lying if I said it isn’t on my radar. I’ve passed up registering for four years now, and I...more

Working Out With Short Hair
by Run Girl Run posted February 17, 2011 at 1:52pm
Nothing drives me crazier than having my hair hang in my face when I'm working out. With long hair, it's easy enough to slick it back into a ponytail to keep it out of the way.
When my hair was this long I never had a problem:
But now my hair is this...more

by Run Girl Run posted February 15, 2011 at 1:16pm
Matt and I safely made it home late last night after an interesting travel day. TSA searched my luggage because they thought the Stick was some sort of weapon. Matt got body scanned, and our pilot got a round of applause after landing the plane safely in ...more

As I sit here writing this race recap, I am feeling fat and happy.
Good New Orleans food will do that to you.
So will a kick ass half marathon.
I was nervous going in to this race. I kept freaking out that I would experience stabbing pain in my knee an...more

Joanna Zeiger: The Horribly Hilly (San Dieguito) Half
by Fast at Forty posted February 14, 2011 at 11:06am
The start area is possibly the coldest place in San Diego. I was chilly! My original plan was to run the Palm Springs Half Marathon. It seemed like a good idea; I wanted to run a flat course and set a PR. Maybe even eke under 1:19. The logistics of getti...more

I guess it was time to take a break
by Endurance Meg posted February 14, 2011 at 10:49am
February started with a bang. Actually, it started with rain, winds, ice, and snow. The snow wasn’t fun snow. It was the snow that has the texture of sugar, abrasive and hellacious. It’s the snow that you loathe if you’re a Nordic skier looking for ...more

365 Marathons, Let’s Move! and Bona Pride
by Byline to Finish Line posted February 11, 2011 at 11:38pm
Listening to NPR makes me feel smart, educated and well-informed. Often, I am none of those three things. But what matters is that I feel that way. At least enough to get by at a dinner party. Then again, I don’t go to dinner parties. But if I did, I co...more

Running is hard. That’s why I love it
by Byline to Finish Line posted February 10, 2011 at 2:08pm
The workouts are basic. Run. That’s it. Run. The duration is always about the same, around 40 minutes, of running on a treadmill. It’s a slow and cautions return to the sport after a six-week or so bout with plantar fasciitis. And wanting my injury to...more
