In Taurasi's early career she was awarded with the 2000 Cheryl Miller Award, presented by the Los Angeles Times to the best player in Southern California. She continued her career at the University of Connecticut where she was point guard and shooting guard. She lead the Huskies to three National Championships. Throughout her career Taurasi was awarded with many accolades including the 2003 and 2004 Naismith College Player of the Year awards, the 2003 Wade Trophy, and the 2003 Associated Press Player of the Year award. She is currently playing in the WNBA for the Phoenix Mercury.
