Burton Nelson started her basketball career at Stanford University ‘78), where she was the leading scorer all four years. She played professionally in France and in the first women’s pro league in the United States (WBL). Burton Nelson is also the co-founder/ co-owner of a consulting business called Speaking Success for Athletes,coaching for athletes who want to achieve success off the court as they did on the court. Mariah served as Chief Speechwriter and Acting Director of AARP's speechwriters, op-ed writers, letter-writers, and bloggers in 2005. Since 2006, Mariah has been the Executive Director at the American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation.
