Maïga-Ba was drafted 10th overall in the 2002 WNBA Draft. Despite being drafted, she did not start a full season for a WNBA team until the 2007 season. She was captain of the Mali squad which won the FIBA Africa Championship for Women in 2007, which qualified her to compete in the 2008 Olympics. Maïga-Ba has played for four WNBA teams. The first, from 2002 through 2006, for the Sacramento Monarchs, the Houston Comets from 2007 through 2008, the Sacramento Monarchs, again, until the end of the team in 2009, and since 2010, with the Minnesota Lynx. During the 2008/2009 off season, she played in the Czech Republic. During the 2009/2010 offseason, she is played in France with Tarbes GB.
