WNBA vet Katie Smith to join Storm in 2011?

Smith attended Ohio University where she was a shooting guard. She lead her team to a Big Ten championship and to the NCAA title game her freshman year. Her senior year at Ohio, she was named MVP of the Big Ten Conference. She became the first female athlete to have her number retired at Ohio State University. Upon graduation, Smith played for the ABL team, the Columbus Quest. She went to the WNBA where in 2005 she became the first American female basketball player to score 5,000 total points in a professional career. She is 3rd on the list of top scorers in the WNBA. She played for the Minnesota Lynx between 1999 and 2005 before being traded to the Detroit Shock. By 2006, Smith had won the All Star game as members of both an eastern and western conference team, becoming the first woman to do so. In 2008, she was named MVP of the WNBA Finals. In 2010 she became a free agent and signed with the Washington Mystics. In 2011 she was traded to the Seattle Storm.
