Tyra Grant Readies for the Draft With the Help of WNBA Legend Yolanda Griffith
During high school, Griffith was named to Parade Magazine's All-American basketball team. She was offered a scholarship to attend the University of Iowa but had to pass after giving birth to her daughter, Candace. She went to Palm Beach Junior Colege where in 1990-1991, she earned Junior College All-American honors. She then transfered to Florida Atlantic University where she won the Kodak Division II Player of the Year award. After playing professionally in Germany, Griffith joined the American Basketball League. She joined the WNBA as a #2 pick to the Sacramento Monarchs in 1999. She, along with her fellow National Team members, won Olympic gold in the 2000 and 2004 Olympic games. In 2008, she signed with the Seattle Storm and moved again in 2009 to join the Indiana Fever. Later in 2009 she tore her achillies season, which lead to her retirement from the sport.
