on Another season of college sports scandals--and now what?
Dydek is know for her height, a towering 7"2, and was named the tallest active women's professional basketball player. She was the first player picked in the 1998 WNBA draft for the Utah Starzz. She stayed with the Starzz until 2002 when she moved to the San Antonio Silver Stars. She also has played for Connecticut and the Los Angeles Sparks. Currently, she is on the other side of the court, coaching for the Northside Wizards in the Queensland Basketball League.
Update 5/25/11: Sadly, Dydek suffered a heart attack last week at her home in Brisbane, Australia, and was pregnant with her third child. She was placed in a medically-induced coma by doctors at the time for the safety of both her and her unborn child but never regained consciousness. She passed away this morning. Our hearts go out to Dydek, her family and friends, and the entire basketball community.
